"18th March 2020
Following the latest government advice we have made the difficult decision to close all our visitor centres, cafes and shops to visitors. This is to prioritise the health and welfare of our staff, volunteers, supporters and members of the public.
Our nature reserves remain open and we hope that visitors will continue to enjoy these amazing places for wildlife while observing physical distancing measures. All car parking charges will be waived so people can enjoy these sites at no cost.
These are difficult and unsettling times for all of us but we hope that nature can provide a welcome respite in whichever form and where ever you may encounter it.
Over the coming days and weeks, we will be helping people to share their wildlife encounters and provide ideas for things you can do for wildlife close to home.
Thank you for your ongoing support, patience and understanding at this challenging time.
The latest government information and advice on coronavirus can be found on the Department for Health and Social Care’s website."
Although I am regarded as "high risk" I intend to carry on with my birding and photography for as long as I regard it to be safe, but ensuring social distancing. I think Bempton Cliffs is safer than most places at the moment. If, however, I am placed under "house arrest", then so be it. It will be hard, but I am sure we will get through this.
Take care
