Bempton Cliffs - 1st March 2020

Don't forget to pick us up some fish!

Well, it's the 1st March and in my eyes the first day of spring! The day started overcast but sunny intervals did their best to make it feel pleasant against a strong south westerly blow. It was a tough day, bird wise, what you might call quiet! There were no Guillemots or Razorbills to be seen anywhere, many Gannets had left the cliffs, preferring to fly around or sit on the sea, and Fulmars similar. Best birds of the day were two Short-eared Owls appearing late afternoon.

So what did we see?

Todays Sightings:

I'm going to start off on a positive with images of today's Gannet life. Unfortunately, I will end with some rather sad images that are becoming an increasingly common sight.

Gannet Life

Fight! Fight! Fight!

A small gift for my beloved!

Gratefully received!

Ouch!

Sorry!

Love you!

Geronimo!

Fulmar

The following images are not pleasant

Nature can be cruel, sometimes very cruel. The activities and actions of man on nature can be both cruel and horrific. It is never nice to see the results. Today I came across the remains of a bird, probably Corvid, probably Jackdaw, entwined in what appears to be fishing line. This is horrific and needs a high profile of awareness.
