Waxwings, Scarborough - 7th December 2018
An extra day for Heather at Scarborough Market gave me another chance for a look around the harbour before heading up to Seamer Road to see if the Waxwings were still around. Again, the morning was dull with quite heavy rain at times but a small window of opportunity allowed brief respite. The light around the harbour had improved but the birds hadn't with only five Shags and the Great Crested Grebe in the harbour entrance! I needed to go to the pet shop so this would be a great opportunity to see if the Waxwings were still present on Seamer Road. They were but only eight and these birds seemed very nervous and flighty. The local Mistle Thrush was not at all happy with their presence and chased them off many times! Eventually they were seen to head off east - will they return?
