Bempton Circular Walk - 28th August 2018

Agitation amongst immature Gannets!

Symphony was being a bit of a challenge this afternoon so she won participation in the walk encompassing Bempton, Buckton, Hoddy Cows Lane, Buckton and Bempton Cliffs! Buckton Pond is now barely a damp patch! Hoddy Cows Lane is very quiet at the moment but I did manage to touch base with a Marsh Harrier, distant and just "record" shots.

Several butterflies - Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral and Painted Lady were observed but only this Small Tortoiseshell obliged my camera!

Once on the cliffs, the Gannets continued to entertain. Some of the young Gannets (Gugas) are just about ready to fledge. A scan of the sea did not reveal any that had recently fledged.

Year 4 Gannets checking each other out!

A "Dr Doolittle" "Push me, pull you" year 4 Gannet!

The juvenile Fulmar in its nest near Bartlett Nab viewpoint is looking well

Birds of the day for me are the recently fledged family of five Swallows. They have relocated to the visitor centre bin area where their parents keep up with feeding.
