A Walk from Bempton Village

Yellowhammer

This morning I decided to explore the footpaths surrounding Bempton and Buckton, hoping to touch base with summer migrants. Leaving Bempton village and walking through the neighbouring village of Buckton, I arrived at Hoddy Cows Lane. This was my third attempt at reaching the cliffs along this lane, each attempt previously being abandoned due to adverse weather! It is a pleasant lane and a potential migrant hotspot, but my only year tick of the day was Common Whitethroat.

The end of the lane brought me to the cliffs at Bempton, just outside of the RSPB reserve area where I was treated to the activities of Gannets as they tore into the grass!

Glorious Gannets

On my way back to Bempton village, my best bird of the day was a pristine (late) Fieldfare, on Cliff Lane! Overall, a very enjoyable four mile walk!
