Bempton Circuit

This morning dawned bright, sunny, warm and with blue skies so I decided to walk the Bempton Circuit - Bempton (home), Buckton, Hoddy Cows Lane, Buckton Cliffs, Bempton Cliffs and home to Bempton village.

Buckton Pond held a Coot, female Tufted Duck, Moorhen, Mallard, Pied Wagtail and the Barn Owl quartered the surrounding fields. The sound of a Curlew gave joy to the morning. Along Hoddy Cows Lane, small numbers of Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Linnet, Common Whitethroat and Reed Bunting were seen with a calling Sedge Warbler.

On Buckton Cliffs, Kestrel, Sky Lark and Meadow Pipit were seen.

The old radar supports at RAF Bempton in all it's glory

Walking the length of Bempton Cliffs, all of the resident seabirds were providing spectacular sights, sounds and smells! All of the Bempton 8, Puffin, Guillemot, Razorbill, Herring Gull, Kittiwake, Fulmar, Shag and Gannet were easily seen but I decided not to take images of these birds today unless something out of the ordinary occurred. It did not! However, I did spot this Guillemot egg begging to be predated on one of the ledges.

I walked to Staple Newk viewpoint, where I decided to try some "in camera" photographic artistry!

And finally, before heading back to the village, a stop at the feeding station, hoping for the Turtle Dove. It wasn't showing! This Blackbird seemed to be enjoying the sunshine
