A Week in The East Riding of Yorkshire - 27th June to 4th July 2015.

The 158 Squadron Memorial, RAF Lissett

What a week for a break in the East Riding of Yorkshire! We were going to the Lakes, camping with Symphony, but then Heather's dad offered us the use of a very comfortable static caravan in the East Riding (Brandesburton). Unfortunately, Symphony couldn't come so she stayed at home with Abigail. We had a number of objectives to achieve - bird watching, bird watching, photography, bird watching and oh! retail therapy! Heather informed me on our journey north that we were NOT spending the whole week bird watching! Hmmmm!!! I'll let you decide if we had a good week bird watching - a list of sightings can be seen at the end of this post! Birding visits were made to Blacktoft Sands; Hornsea Mere; Bridlington Harbour; Bempton Cliffs; Filey Dams; Filey Brigg; Tophill Low; Spurn; and Flamborough. Retail Therapy was achieved at Skirlington Market; Bridlington Town; Filey Town; Hornsea Freeport; and Beverley! Actually, another objective was to get a good idea of somewhere to relocate - oops did I say that?! Anyway, broadening my photographic horizons...........

The 158 Squadron Memorial at RAF Lissett, East Riding. A very evocative place. The memorial bares the names of 851 members who perished.

Gunpowder, Treason and Plot! A memorial in the East Riding village (Holderness Region) of Welwick, commemorates the contribution played in the Gunpowder Plot of Christopher and John Wright.
