Napton on the Hill and Draycote Water

I couldn't resist this self-portrait (Napton on the Hill)

The forecast was not brilliant and the day dawned dull, misty and drizzly - a great day for migrants (I thought) and headed for Napton on the Hill. I was sure I would find Wheatear, Ring Ouzel and Whitethroat, but alas I had picked up the wrong bins and only spotted the usual birds and wildlife! The drizzle continued and the paths down to the quarry were very slippery with mud and so I proceeded with circumspection and thankfully arrived at the quarry with myself and equipment in one piece! Two Muntjac Deer were seen near the church and the (?) Roe Deer, seen a couple of days ago was still wandering below the quarry.

Is this a Roe Deer? It is running free and is certainly timid, but not being up to speed with deer, I would value an opinion!

With the drizzle getting heavier and the light worsening, I decided to climb back up the muddy slopes and go elsewhere! Sightings can be found at the end of this post.

Napton Reservoir

Called in, just in case but very little on the water! The best was a female Goldeneye.

Draycote Water

Called in on my way home, just in case, which paid off with a brief sighting of two Wheatear's on Farborough Bank, before being disturbed by a running group. A Raven flew over honking and a Yellow Wagtail provided a flypast. A Willow Warbler was singing near the car park but little else of note on my short walk to Farborough Spit and back.
