Filey Dams - 19th July 2019

Spoonbill

Until today, I had not seen a Spoonbill in Yorkshire! Messages were received of four birds at Thornwick Pool, Flamborough, then three at Filey Dams. Two birds later departed (only to return later, after I'd left!). Would I be in luck? Well yes! And the remaining bird was awake, feeding well and reasonably close to the East Hide.

A year tick in the form of a Wood Sandpiper was also present, but remained distant!

With Common Snipe

One of the eight Curlews present (seven eventually flew)

And finally, Grey Heron

Not bad for an hours visit!
