Scarborough Harbour and Scalby Mills - 8th November 2018

Great Black Backed Gull - Harbour

Another pleasant autumnal day saw me drop Heather off at Scarborough Indoor Market (not sold her yet!) then head off with Symphony to the seafront, visiting the harbour and Scalby Mills several times. Bright at times with sunny intervals the moderate blow did its best to cool us! Not a lot to excite me so I took images of whatever appeared at the same time as my camera!

The harbour held two Great Crested Grebes

And Rock Pipit

Several Great Black Backed Gulls scavenged the area and I could not resist pointing my camera at these "brutes" of Gulls

Two Peregrines were on standby near lamp post 55 but remained firmly on the cliffs

At Scalby Mills, initially with the tide out, this Curlew caught my eye

Later in the afternoon, as the tide came in, the Wigeon came closer

As the tide rises the rocks are quickly covered, evicting these Gulls

A final (3rd) visit to the harbour saw the Purple Sandpiper roost building

It was good to see that the small bridge across the harbour has now been replaced making the whole area easier to investigate!

A walk through the open air theatre and around Peasholm Park was as exciting as watching paint dry!

In all a good walk of c8 miles!
