Scarborough - 2nd November 2018

Wigeon, Scalby Mills

A very pleasant early November day with blue sky, sunshine and a light wind - just right for a long walk with Symphony from Scalby Mills to the harbour and back! Even better now that parking is free along North Marine Drive and Scalby Mills! Ended the day checking out Mediterranean Gulls at Holbeck.

Wigeon were the most numerous birds about Scalby Mills

The Eider was also present but remained distant

Several Grey Herons waited to be pushed off the rocks by the incoming tide

No sign of any Grey Wagtails but this Pied Wagtail showed well

Spotted one of the Peregrines on North Marine Drive but it refused to show its head, so no images!

The harbour was quiet with only this Great Crested Grebe at the entrance

Walking back to Scalby Mills several Rock Pipits flitted about on the sea defences

At least three Purple Sandpipers rested on the sea wall just before the Sea Life Centre but were into the light

I decided to end the morning by taking a look around Holbeck for Mediterranean Gulls. At least five were on the roof but soon descended to the grass for an easy meal courtesy of another dog walker!
