Snow Bunting on Carr Naze

Today, we decided to have a bash around Filey in the hope of increasing our year lists! Starting at Filey Dams, we were struck by the high water levels and lack of wildfowl! At one point, I was wondering what I could aim my camera at, when a drake Teal appeared in the morning sunshine.

Apart from a couple of Stock Doves around the owl box, the only other birds within camera range were Gulls - Herring and Black Headed.

After spending an hour in the bitterly cold blow, we decided to head around to East Lea. Canada and Grey Lag Geese were in the fields, but no other species. At least 120 Wigeon graced the far bank with a couple of Lapwing.

Moving on, we headed for the country park noting at least 9 Redshank and 6 Oystercatchers on the grass. Surprisingly, the country park was much milder than Filey Dams! At least 6 Rock Pipits did their best to evade us, then Heather found our bird of the day - a very obliging Snow Bunting near the end of Carr Naze!

It is always nice to see the sun at this time of year, but today it made searching the bay rather difficult, with reflective light and haze too harsh for the eyes! Walking back to the country park, a Rock Pipit let its guard down and was captured through my lens!

Near the pond at the start of the path, two Weasels caught our eye, but their speed and agility tested my camera skills beyond my limits, but I did manage record shots!
