Red Throated Diver
Bridlington was very busy today, particularly around the harbour and beach areas! I'm not surprised, as after a damp start (including some wet snow), a beautiful day ensued with sunshine and blue skies - the sort of day to get out in the fresh air after a hectic Christmas and New Year!
North Side looking to Flamborough Headland
Despite the harbour being busy, the tide was out so it was surprising to see a Red Throated Diver in the shallow water. Also, the Black Necked Grebe which eventually headed out into Bridlington Bay.
Black Necked Grebe
A single Sanderling raced it's way through the filthy harbour mud
Despite the low tide, a single Purple Sandpiper graced the harbour wall but managed to evade my camera lens!
The harbour mud was alive with waders
Dunlin
Turnstone
Common Redshank
And of course, the Gulls
Black Headed Gull
Herring Gull
Common Gull (? first winter) (I think!!)
