Lesser Scaup
With reports of Black Tern in good numbers and the prospect of better views of the Lesser Scaup it was off to Draycote this afternoon. I only walked down to Hensborough Bank where I sat on the wall and was treated to nine Black Terns and reasonably close views of the Lesser Scaup (which remained asleep for most of the time!). Two small waders flew in and landed in front of me - a Ringed Plover and Curlew Sandpiper. Fantastic! Just sitting in the warm sunshine, waiting for the birds to come to you - a couple of hours well spent! Did not really look anywhere else so I wonder what I missed?

Good stuff Kevin.Loved the LS shots. It looks like you got closer to it than me.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Max. Actually, the LS came closer to me as I was sat on the wall enjoying the afternoon. Also, with the whole of Hensborough Bank in which to land, the Ringed Plover & Curlew Sandpiper chose the area directly in front of me! Lucky or what?!
