Bempton Cliffs - 8th December 2019

Herring Gull

Overnight, very strong winds and very heavy rain abated to a morning of sunshine and showers. The winds, however, remained very strong. It was hard work on the cliffs, a combination of the wind and trying to locate any birds - they certainly seemed to have hunkered down, and who could blame them? I was struggling to find anything to point the camera at! The cliffs were devoid of birds but resplendent in their silent nakedness and I walked every part of the reserve in the hope of finding something!

Todays Sightings:

Close in, below the cliffs was the Vos Glamour, an offshore supply ship with an interesting design, it took me ages to work out which was front and back!

On the bird front, thank goodness for Herring Gulls and Fulmars!

Fulmar  with something to shout about!

And finally, Bempton (guardian of the cliffs) looking well! I still can't find any information about this rock!

You could certainly say, today was a challenge but great to be out in the bracing fresh air!

Keep 'em peeled!
