Burton Riggs and Seamer Tip Pool - 17th March 2019

Great Crested Grebe - Burton Riggs

No cliffs today as I needed to take Heather to Seamer station, heading off for a girlie few days with our daughter Abigail in Durham. I decided to have a wander around nearby Burton Riggs and Seamer Tip pool. The question is, "Where are the birds?". Certainly not where I go, save a few expected common species. Best at Burton Riggs were two Chiffchaffs with one singing high in a tree. Two Great Crested Grebes, several Tufted Ducks, Mallards, Canada and Grey Lag Geese, Moorhens and Coots were best of the rest.

An often overlooked but gorgeous Carrion Crow

And the colourful drake Mallard

Moving on to Seamer Tip pool, two Mute Swans, a pair of Gadwall, several Tufted Ducks and Mallards, Coots, Moorhen and a large group of Grey Lag Geese with a couple of Canada Geese. Such excitement!

Following such an exciting morning, I was overcome by the need to go home in order to lay down in a dark room with the application of a cold compress! Tomorrow, I will try watching paint dry!
