Hoddy Cows Lane, Buckton.

(Juv) Wheatear

Peace, quiet and tranquillity was the order of the day with a walk from Bempton, through Buckton and along Hoddy Cows Lane to Buckton Cliffs and back. Although very close to the RSPB Bempton Cliffs, this walk carries far less visitors with the benefit of seeing all of the birds that Bempton is famous for. Additionally, the "therapeutic" fields of barley, blowing in the wind, enhance the rolling hills. Some of the birds were quite a challenge, hiding in the foliage, the outcome of which, I think, has created some quite "arty" images!

Guardian of the post!

"You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
...
As we walk in fields of gold
So she took her love for to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley" [Sting]

  2. Thank you Pam and yes you should try it! It can be used as a circular walk (c4miles) encompassing RSPB Bempton, Hoddy Cows, Buckton village, Bempton villages and back to RSPB Bempton!

  3. That sounds good, we always tend to stick to the cliffs, so next time we'll try going further afield!
