Hoddy Cows Lane, Buckton.

Almost a happy family! Buckton Pond

The sun is shining, it is very warm and wall to wall blue sky! How different it all is compared with the cold winds and sea frets of last week! Today, I decided to be "Far from the Madding Crowd" and walk Hoddy Cows Lane, to Buckton Cliffs and back. I had high hopes for good photo opportunities of farmland birds but they had made themselves scarce, incubating eggs and raising young.

On Buckton Pond

Tufted Duck

Moorhen

The path through the fields enabled me to [eventually] capture some bird images but hot favourites including Lesser Whitethroat and Corn Bunting were heard but not seen and Yellow Wagtails teased me in flight but not landing! Numerous butterflies were on the wing including many Painted Lady, Red Admiral and Orange Tip, but again these were on a mission and failed to stop!

Yellowhammer

I'm useless at flight shots!

Common Whitethroat

Reed Bunting

Sedge Warbler

Linnet

I said I was useless at birds in flight!

Dunnock

And one from Buckton Cliffs - Herring Gull on eggs

The fieldscape at the top of Hoddy Cows is quite diverse and begs to be photographed and I am happy to oblige!
