RSPB Bempton Cliffs - Gannets

The weather was sunny, the skies were blue, the expectations were high! My day for volunteering at RSPB Bempton Cliffs! Today, however, you really had to enjoy Gannets! Apart from Fulmar and Kittiwake, the cliffs only held Gannets! A few Guillemots and Razorbills were on the sea but no Puffins to be seen anywhere! Of interest, a Shelduck flew the length of the cliffs and a Curlew landed in the derelict radar station field.

My day for volunteering at RSPB Bempton Cliffs on a sunny day but a very challenging off land wind! With many volunteers available, I chose to "roam" the cliffs, giving me the chance to visit all of the viewpoints.

Filey Dams and East Lea Reserves, Filey

Today promised to be the best day of the Easter weekend so we decided on an early morning visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Reserve at Filey Dams, followed by pastures new at the Filey Brig Ornithological Group Reserve at East Lea. The morning was bright and sunny with blue skies but a challenging wind did its best to cool us! An Avocet had been reported on Filey Dams yesterday, but had departed by this morning. With nothing out of the ordinary present, it was left to the expected birds to perform for the camera! Also, noted a Small Tortoiseshell on the East Lea Reserve.
