Draycote Water - 1st August 2014

Common Sandpiper

Two laps of Draycote Water, on the bike, this morning! One aim was to obtain images of the sunrise, which was achieved, and can be seen in blog post Sunrise @ Draycote Water

The other aim, of course was to see and photograph the wildlife. A list of sightings can be seen at the end of this post. Of interest, however was a Ruff, viewed near the sailing club; two Common Sandpipers on Farborough Bank; two adult and two juvenile Common Terns; at least seven adult and juvenile Yellow Wagtails; two Grey Wagtails on Farborough Bank; three Green Sandpipers flew into Toft Shallows but were lost in the thick vegetation; two Little Egrets were around the outlet; three female Shoveler; a Peregrine along the north shore and a Raven over. So for Draycote at the moment, a good morning!
