Titchwell Marsh - 27th September 2015

My first trip of this year to one of my favourite reserves in one of my favourite counties! It has to be Titchwell Marsh and Norfolk. In the good company of the Coventry & Warwickshire RSPB Group, we left Coventry at 0700hrs in misty conditions. On the M6 just before junction 1, the mist and sunshine combined to form a spectacular light (image taken through the coach windows!). The day improved as we approached the east coast, given bright sunshine and blue skies.

Titchwell was rather quiet on the birding front, with most birds remaining at a distance and very low, dry pools. Indeed, I have never seen the first pool on the left to be totally dry! I walked to the shore as the sun was directly silhouetting the birds on the freshwater /  saltwater pools. Here, I was astounded to see that the tide was the furthest out that I had ever seen, well beyond the muscle beds!

Making the most of what was presented, I felt pleased to have the use of my 500mm lens with 1.4 converter! A good number of birds were observed, including a number of year ticks, a list of those seen by myself can be found at the end of this post. Below are images of some of the birds seen, more can be found in additional posts.
